Effective community development needs to ensure that a community’s needs are accurately identified and that effective potential solutions are identified. For development to be relevant, and sustainable, only appropriate solutions need to be put in place.

Sago Network partners with governments, corporates and communities at the front-end of a development initiative when community need begins to be identified and potential solutions need to be clarified. The Sago Network team undertake a WASH Assessment service for communities that involves the following:

• Detailed in-field assessment is undertaken to meet with communities, listen to their development challenges, corroborate with evidence and identify community needs surrounding water, sanitation and hygiene.

• Utilising the team’s deep knowledge of WASH solutions, effective potential solutions are identified and recommended with a staged approach or differing budgetary options identified.

• In collaboration with the Client and Community, a WASH Strategic Plan is the result which can guide decisions both in the short and long term.
